Mesos make the MapleStory world go ’round being the primary in-game currency that they are, but apparently a few faucets for those shiny gold coins are going to be closed off in the Korean version of the MMORPG, which is causing some players of the NA version to wring their hands.
A patch currently in public testing for Korean players puts a daily limit on the amount of mesos that can be acquired from grinding in open fields, removes the passive increase in meso earning from Reboot servers, and tweaks the Potential Reset system costs to use mesos instead of real-world money. According to Redditor reports, these adjustments are being praised by Korean players who were angry at Reboot servers eating into their meso earning potential while also voicing concerns that Nexon may make similar updates to MapleStory NA.
However, most players don’t appear to be too concerned, as Reboot servers are far more popular in other regions than they are in Korea (meaning applying nerfs would not be well received) and most players apparently don’t grind open maps for mesos to begin with.
