Overwatch 2 discusses general plans for addressing the squishiness of tank heroes

If you’re a tank player in Overwatch 2, you probably feel less like a heavily armored wall and more like a pile of sponges. According to director Aaron Keller, that’s not just a perceptual issue but one that’s confirmed by data, and so he’s sharing what the team is considering to address the matter.

While many of the changes made to the game that affect tanks are still considered positive ones by Keller, things are still not where they should be, so the devs have considered whether the next step forward is a set of broad systemic changes for the tank role or per-character tweaks. It looks as if the answer will be primarily the latter and a bit of the former, with an upcoming patch targeted at making tanks tankier while applying individual adjustments that play to specific hero fantasies.

Timing for this upcoming patch has not been nailed down, but Keller does provide a rough guesstimate of mid-Season 11 or as part of Season 12 for release. Until then, those who want to read his take on the matter and what it means for wider hero balance can enjoy some dev blog time.
