It’s been quite the celebration for Thatgamecompany and its Sky: Children of Light this month, as its anniversary celebration drew hundreds of thousands of fans both in and outside of the game. The studio reported that 300,000 fans gathered in Japan and China for the SkyFest 5th anniversary, a number that was augmented by 700K in-game concurrent players enjoying the experience virtually.

“SkyFest continues in-game through Friday, July 26 via an event that allows players to relive some of Sky’s most cherished seasons, previously accessible only through the purchase of season-exclusive magical capes. Sky kids around the world can once again enjoy exclusive content from the Aurora concert, the Little Prince asteroid ride, the Nine-Colored Deer meetup, and other pivotal moments,” the studio said.

One big announcement that emerged from SkyFest was the news that the social game is collaborating with the Swedish Moomin franchise and working on an animated series.
