Ultima Online plans beta testing of New Legacy server shortly – here’s how to add your name to the list

It’s taken the better part of four (!) years for this move, but fans of Ultima Online have finally gotten a tangible step closer to the arrival of the New Legacy server’s release, as Broadsword Entertainment has confirmed beta testing is happening soonâ„¢.

Readers might remember that this new server ruleset was first revealed in 2020 and explained by the studio as a way to get all-new faces into the elder statesman sandbox MMORPG. To facilitate that goal, New Legacy plans to bring updates to skills, gear stats, and PvP rules to a fresh server while still maintaining its core. Broadsword confirmed that New Legacy will hit beta this summer and release this September in time for UO’s 27th anniversary.

Unfortunately there is still no hard date for when beta testing will start, but interested players can fill out a brief 15-question survey that asks about familiarity with UO, gaming habits, and desired activities in MMORPGs overall; it’s a pretty small ask for those who are curious about this next evolution (or reimagining) of a classic sandbox.
