Dauntless deep-dives weapon infusion and talent crafting, teases a launch date for Shattered Isles patch soon

Dauntless has once again put forth a deep dish dev blog about its Shattered Isles patch, continuing its sporadic yet in-depth looks at the Shattered Isles update that was first announced last year. The subject for this month’s post from Phoenix Labs is about weapon infusion and talent crafting, which readers might remember were generally touched on last January.

The blog first outlines the specific materials and XP needed for weapons to reach level 60 and details the three new aetherite materials that will be added as well as where to find them. The blog further points out that weapons over level 50 will effectively let players engage in any activity they want, while level 60 is meant to grant “the edge that some competitive Slayers look for, alongside mastery and recognition.”

The post then deep-dives weapon talent crafting, with information on what sort of essences will be required, a short list of some of the Behemoths that drop these essences, and examples of what materials and costs will be needed to move through the five categories of weapon talent crafting. As a reminder, each weapon will have 25 talents split into five categories with five options each, though a total of only three talents can be active in each category.

All of these systems are effectively replacing the reforge mechanic that’s in-game now, but Phoenix Labs wants to honor those who climbed that ladder previously, so players who have reforged at least one weapon of each of the game’s seven types will receive the Reforger Crown cosmetic.

Last but certainly not least, the studio promised that it’s getting ready to announce the release date of this overhaul patch – along with its actual name – sometime soonâ„¢. The post acknowledged that it’s summer 2024, which readers will remember was when Phoenix Labs first targeted this update’s arrival, so details are expected in the very near future.
