Lord of the Rings Online welcomed VIP players to a pair of brand-new progression servers today, one of which finally gives European players a local home: “Angmar and Mordor are new legendary worlds offering a special Veil of the Nine challenge. These two worlds are also our first 64-bit servers, and Mordor is our first in Europe.”
Standing Stone Games posted a FAQ for the new worlds, including the initial level cap (50), how the Veil of the Nine challenge works, if PvMP will be turned on (no), and if EU and NA-based players can access either server (yes).
In other LOTRO news, the studio made the Before the Shadow mini-expansion free for VIP players in the store with an eye on making it available for all in the future: “We intend to make Before the Shadow’s content to be available to all players in the future as well, but for now it requires a VIP subscription or purchase to access.” Before the Shadow adds two new starter regions – Swanfleet and Cardolan – and provides a brand-new leveling experience for characters from 1 to 20ish.
