One year on from its full release, it’s safe to say that Baldur’s Gate 3 has absolutely no need to flex any longer. It has been an unqualified success, after all. But you know what is important? Knowing that Scratch – the good boy sitting at your camp – has received a total of 120 million pettings. The owlbear cub has received only 41 million! He needs more affection! But then, considering that 1.9 million players got turned into a cheese wheel, we’d say maybe some people just make bad decisions. That’s the point of this particular anniversary thread on Twitter, listing the fun and weird stats from the game’s completion a year out.
Shadowheart, for example, is the most-kissed character with 27 million kisses; meanwhile, Minthara has the fewest at just shy of 170,000. And Astarion is the most-played origin character, but 93% of all players picked an original character (only 15% of that group picked the Dark Urge, by contrast). And at least 377,000 Dark Urge players figured out a way to leave Alfira alive after their encounter, so the lute rock subgenre remains alive. It’s all funny fluff, but if you’ve been keeping the game in your heart over the past year, it’s exactly what you’d want.
It’s been a year since Baldur’s Gate 3 was released, and you know what we’ve realised?
Over a quarter of you can’t be trusted to not pick a fight with a djinni, and a surprising amount of you enjoy bear sex and tentacles.
