Early access MMO Quest Master’s Realm will go free-to-play with optional DLC

Near the top of last year we took a first peek at Quest Master’s Realm, an indie effort from Electronic Lightning that called itself a “realtime action-based MMORPG world of fantasy adventure.” We’ve peeked in on its progress a couple of times after that point, including when it was headed for early access this past March.

We’ve brought this one back up from the periphery because its indie developer has elected to make a big change: early access will now be free-to-play, with plans for DLC additions to be sold later. The first such DLC, Land of the Phoenix, is available now for $12 and will be given for free to those who bought into early access prior.

The game otherwise continues to see some smaller updates including a new boss fight in the DLC dungeon, adjustments to XP gain, faster looting, and a hotfix that was freezing the game during a specific desert quest. As for the game’s overall temperature, 12 players give the game a “Mixed” review aggregate and its all-time peak concurrency is four people.
