As Hobbits trick-or-treat and Elves preen in anticipation for their visual glow-up, Lord of the Rings Online’s lead designer took to Twitch last week to answer various community questions and topics about the MMO’s future.
Orion said that 2024 marked a “recovery year” for the team as it struggled (and sometimes failed) to meet the milestones of the roadmap. However, he noted that 2025 should be better, with a big quality-of-life patch in the works, including work on improving the user interface.
He spent a good portion of time talking about the “downscaling” system that will allow higher level players to artificially reduce their levels to journey with lowbie friends. However, SSG wants to get the kinship rework finished first, as this will connect with that. Other topics included which classes are next for revamps, the upcoming Legacy of Morgoth raid, the different server architecture, and word of new team members joining SSG to work on this MMO.
