Dungeons and Dragons Online is getting mighty ambitious with a new event called Lanterns in the Mist that’s currently winding its way through testing. Standing Stone Games announced this week that it was attempting a second pass on the event with over a dozen changes and adjustments.

“The Mists of Ravenloft have begun to appear with greater frequency across the planes. Furthermore, there are reports of mysterious whispering shapes appearing in those mists.” The event is meant to “dovetail into new content coming next year” and involves a solo dungeon, a hunt for Mist Stalkers throughout the game, and lanterns that grow into a variety of rewards.

Meanwhile, SSG announced that the game’s Cormyr server – its new 64-bit server – is launching next week.

“The first 64 bit server for Dungeons & Dragons Online arrives on Wednesday, October 23rd starting at 1:00 PM Eastern (-4 GMT). We’ll have more information about this fresh start VIP access server and its Lanterns in the Mists event next week.”

Finally as the Night Revels event continues on the servers, a DDO developer sat down with a fan to talk about the history of this Halloween substitute:
