War Thunder introduces new vehicles and improved visuals in its Firebirds update

The military vehicle battler War Thunder has gotten itself a new coat of visual spit shine thanks to the Firebirds update, which has some new VFX tech for those who possess the right hardware and like pretty lights and explosions.

In more specific terms, the Firebirds update now uses several visual features of Nvidia graphics cards like ray tracing to better create sunlight and shadows for the game, realistic shadows from dynamic lights caused by things like muzzle flashes and explosions, and raytraced ambient occlusion and reflections. There are other added effects as well like more realistic mud flying from wheels, aerial missile explosion effects, burning fuel effects, and better car crumpling when running over them with a tank for maximum destruction satisfaction.

Of course there’s more to the update than visuals, as multiple vehicles are available in the update such as the F-117A stealth bomber along with the South African Super Hind attack helicopter, multiple new light vehicles, and the Dunkerque battleship.

Finally, the patch has brought in extra quality-of-life and gameplay changes like the ability to deploy ammo crates in ground battles, improved shot replays when destroyed, expanded player profiles, and new awards. The patch notes break it all down for players while the videos below showcase some of the visual improvements in action.
