Most of the time people associate Digital Extremes with the action multiplayer looter shooter Warframe, but it also created a third-person action shooter called Dark Sector that ended up laying some of the groundwork for its big MMO. And now the developer/publisher is making that game free for a very limited time.

“Published by Digital Extremes in 2008, Dark Sector features many early concepts that would eventually evolve into Warframe. The game follows CIA agent Hayden Tenno on their mission to combat the spread of the mutating Technocyte Virus using the Glaive, a weapon formed from their own Technocyte-infected right arm.”

Players merely have to head to Steam and add the shooter to their library, but they only have until 12:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 30th to do so. If you’re interested in seeing the progenitor of DE’s much bigger game, then you’ve got a small window to claim the offer.
