So there’s another online competitive shooter on the horizon, which seems pretty routine on the surface. This one, however, features drones, which might have the sense of speed and agility that will wake up twitch-based shooter fans. Say hello to Drone Strike Force, the self-described “three-axis tactical shooter” that’s arriving to Steam on Friday, August 16th.
The press release sets the table for this game’s world:
“In the mid-21st century, citizen soldiers and corporations battle it out against each other to claim control of cities ravaged by global warming. Command next-generation military UAV drones via a state-of-the-art Drone Brain Meld Interface (DBMi) that provides instantaneous neural control.”
Drone Strike Force offers up gameplay in team-based Deathmatch, Domination, and King of the Hill modes, and lets players customize their playstyle with a variety of different drone Operating Systems (aka classes), weapons, perks, and abilities. All of this is on offer during a free demo weekend/open beta test, which is running between now and Sunday, August 11th. A trailer providing a jump cut-loaded sneak peek is below.
