Bonus question: What’s one unique holiday tradition you have? Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): Normally the weekend before the holidays I don’t get to play anything because I’m running around like a madwoman trying to prep presents and food and suitcases. As it happens this year, I am far too sick to do any of those things. But I am mostly not too sick to play video games. Lucky me! I’ve been tooling around in Star Wars Galaxies Legends as always, getting my vendors overstocked so I can walk away from them for a few days, but for combat, I’ve been back in City of Heroes rolling new toons and leveling.

I’m not sure how unique it is, but my parents always used to bundle us up in blankets and go for a night-time drive, often on Christmas Eve, to see neat light displays around our city, then we’d put on Christmas music and sing at the top of our lungs. My husband and I do that still. Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX): Wintersday in Guild Wars 2! That’s most def gonna be the thing I’ll put some time into. Despite my feeling on GW2, Wintersday doesn’t disappoint.

Coincidently enough, that’s my holiday tradition. Ever since the first Wintersday way back in 2005, I’ve attended every one of them. It was also the first holiday event I ever participated in for ant MMO too. I just can’t let go, it’s too special for me. Colin Henry (@ChaosConstant): Watching Rise of Skywalker yesterday (I liked it for the most part!) has me in the mood for some Star Wars gaming, so I’m planning to work on my Nautolan Jedi Sentinel some more in Star Wars: The Old Republic.

And, of course, I’ll be in Guild Wars 2 for Wintersday! I’m not really big into PvP, but for some reason I really enjoy the capture the flag style Snowball Mayhem event. And you have to suffer through the Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle a few times every year. It’s all fun and games until that wall of presents disappears from under your feet! Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Some random single-player stuff here and there, alongside my usual routines in Final Fantasy XIV. It’s the last weekend before some holiday stuff, so it’s going to be low-key.

My wife and I have a lot of holiday traditions (like our entire Festivus routine), but on the 24th we’ve made a tradition of setting up a fire and giving each other one present, a book to read. Then we sit down and read for a good chunk of the evening. It’s a nice low-key way to start things off. Justin Olivetti (@Sypster, blog): I’m lazily working my way through the Great River region on Lord of the Rings Online’s progression server. Apart from that, I want to round out the month trying a lot of free games that have been sitting in my libraries for a while now. Epic Store gave me Into the Breach the other day, that’s a strong possibility, as is Celeste. Mia DeSanzo (@neschria): I don’t think I will be playing anything. Saturday is going to be cookie baking day at the in-laws house, and Sunday will probably be another holiday prep day. I may have a character AFK fishing in Black Desert Online for some of that time, but that hardly counts as playing. Samon Kashani (@thesamkash): I’m getting redundant at this point, but ArcheAge is still my go to currently. I always knock out my Guild Wars 2 Wintersday chores too though!

We’re pretty standard holiday folks. We started watching Love Actually as our family Xmas movie. The sex scene isn’t any less awkward to watch with the whole family now than it was 15 years ago. How this became our movie, I’ll never know. Tyler Edwards: I’ve been playing through Torchlight II using my free month of Origin Access. It’s pretty fun, and it’s making me hyped for Torchlight Frontiers.

Bonus question: Following up on last week’s question because I don’t eat most of the traditional holiday foods, I have my own ideas for what constitutes holiday food. For me, it’s not Christmas without a jar of olives to snack on.

Also, when I was a kid, rather than just giving me presents outright, my parents used to have me find them in a scavenger hunt around the house. Sometimes they’d give me a treasure map to follow. Other times I’d have to decipher clues. It was a lot of fun.
