We have a rule at MOP: “Save your recordings.” This is specifically because studios have said things to us on the record and then claim the opposite and call us liars, forgetting we have the whole conversation. Needless to say, this has happened to us before, and I’ve never been sorry we had the recording to call out the real fibbers.
Last year for the “biggest fib” Daily Grind, I nominated the EA rep who went before the UK parliament and lied that lockboxes were “surprise mechanics” akin to “many other products that people enjoy in a healthy way.” Come on, my dudes. This year, it seems only just to point to Cyberpunk 2077‘s CD Projekt Red, and not because it delayed repeatedly but because it came out and tried to generate goodwill by promising a no-crunch environment and then… went right ahead and sent its devs into months of crunch anyway. Gross.
Which gaming company told the biggest fib in 2020, and what was it?
