MassivelyOP’s not-so-serious end-of-the-year awards continue today with our pick for dumbest thing added to an MMO this year. (We call these silly awards the Golden Yachties in honor of that dank meme about how games bloggers sail around on a golden yacht with all their blogging money. Obviously, our yacht is constructed from rhodium-encrusted moonrock, not mere gold.)
And the winner is…
BEDSHEET DEFORMATION
There’s a reason we keep referring to Star Citizen as a boondoggle, folks, and the obsession with details like making sure bed covers are immersively rumpled when you emerge from your slumber is one of them.
“We knew early on that, to hit the fidelity we expect for SQ42, we would need to do some R&D on bedsheet deformation. […] This is a challenging assignment and expands the complexity of the feature. For example, what happens to the sheets if the AI needs to exit the bed in an emergency?”
Believe it or not, we had runners-up.
