One of the interesting aspects of the modern MMO landscape is that there are long stretches of time when you can play a game without it costing you a dime. There are whole communities dedicated to finding ways that you can play games for extremely long stretches of time without paying a dime. That’s not a bad thing, but it’s not really a question of how long you can play a free-to-play game without opening your wallet but what makes you want to open your wallet in the first place.

Maybe it’s when there’s a new piece of content that’s appealing enough to entice you into baying to play. Maybe you prefer when you’ve had a fun time with the game for long enough. Maybe it’s all about how stable you think the game is or how many friends you’ve made in the title. Or maybe it’s just about fear of missing out for you.
