Today is officially the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the operation that saw Allied forces storm the beaches of Normandy, and once again the multiplayer real-world military vehicle battlers are remembering this historic moment, as War Thunder engages its in-game events and World of Tanks has provided more details on its earlier referenced commemoration.
We’ll begin with War Thunder’s celebration, which is headlined by an event that will let players earn special cosmetics and the Churchill AVRE tank by earning mission points, along with the opportunity to earn a special ship flag and decal, join in on D-Day tournaments, or buy up special bundles in the cash shop.
As for WoT, it will be using the entire month to highlight D-Day, with a new tank that was used in the Normandy landings offered as premium battle pass reward, a new single-player PvE mode, and a limited-time 30v30 frontline battle on the appropriate Normandie battle map. The game is also offering D-Day tokens for checking in with the event landing page and watching community streamers, which can be spent in a special store for things like tanks, cosmetics, and boosters.
