Ominous?

Can you win at being on Steam? If you ask NetEase, the answer is not only “yes,” but it’s also followed up with, “and we won the Triple Crown.” That’s the award the company is giving itself in a press release after its post-apoc survival shooter Once Human did some big numbers on the game platform during the recent Steam Next Fest.

Once Human proved to be a massive success, garnering attention for its unique supernatural world and groundbreaking gameplay. […] [T]he game has already achieved the Triple Crown on Steam and has attracted over 300,000 users worldwide, topping the most wishlisted upcoming games, trending upcoming, and daily active demo players lists, ranking #1 in each category within 24 hours.”

The announcement further points out that the demo offered during Steam Next Fest garnered “the most demo players in Steam Next Fest in June,” while also talking up high Twitch viewer numbers and a total of over 15M pre-registrations worldwide. The shooter is scheduled to release on Tuesday, July 9th, but you can get some impressions beforehand from Andrew’s hands-on time with the game during SGF 2024.
