Elvish fans rejoice: Lord of the Rings Online’s team announced that it’s been working on “Elf-themed premium housing” for the MMO’s next neighborhood, although this is currently “on pause” as the final touches are put on this fall’s expansion and will not be situated on a tree-top flet.
SSG Senior World Designer Matt Elliot explained why this neighborhood is taking a while in coming, saying, “The challenge with something like a Lothlorien or Lossoth neighborhood, for example, is that those assets are not particularly easy to build with and and the library of assets available is not very extensive.”
After Elf housing? It looks like an Umbar neighborhood is likely. Speaking of this Elliot said, “The easiest neighborhoods for us to build are the ones that base on robust and simple to use existing asset sets. Part of why we’ve hinted at Umbar neighborhoods is because those existing assets are very well suited to being turned into a neighborhood.”
