No Man’s Sky launches its spoopy 16th expedition, The Cursed, just in time for Halloween

Well now this is a treat: While most MMOs have a Halloween event these days, it’s not quite as common to get an entire update that fits perfectly with the season, and yet that’s exactly what No Man’s Sky has delivered to day with its 16th expedition, The Cursed.

“As we approach Halloween, we are embracing the spookier side of the No Man’s Sky Universe, drawing upon threads first established way back in Atlas Rises, when ancient portals began to open and the boundaries between realities first began to crumble,” Hello Games says. “Today, we are announcing expedition sixteen: The Cursed – where players will fight to keep a grip on reality while haunted by visions and voices from another dimension.”

Players will be entering “a sort of twilight realm” between realities, where they must travel not by warping but through ancient portals beset by “haunting voices, leaking through from another dimension.” Should you trust them? I mean, probably not. But will you? Yeah you will. You’ll also have to juggle your exosuit’s reality-handling module, dodge ghosts – sorry, “spectral anomalies” – and craft spooky potions to survive. We spy an ectoplasmic pet, cthulhu masks, and a sweet UFO ship.

The expedition begins now and runs only two weeks, so get movin’.
