The recently released Firebirds update to War Thunder could use some fixing up. That’s the general message from a recent dev blog by Gaijin, which outlines a variety of adjustments to some of the patch’s features as a result of player feedback.
Some of the tweaks that are planned include making newly added helicopters take on the new helicopter-specific damage model, allowing the option for a missile evasion pop-up in certain modes, and the eventual rollout of added information to the newly added player cards. The one major thing that won’t be changing is the Soviet jet damage, which Gaijin argues will upset the balance of power between top-tier Soviet jets and US jets.
Unfortunately, most of this discussion may be overshadowed by the fact that War Thunder will soon introduce BattleEye anti-cheat to the game. Gaijin has been using this software for its WWII FPS Enlisted to great effect and claims that it blocks most cheats that plague the game, but players have pushed back against the decision with counter-arguments that BattleEye is actually a less effective solution, will hinder game performance, or is straight-up malware.
