Elder Scrolls Online’s winter event, the New Life Festival, returns next week

Count Elder Scrolls Online among the MMORPGs that celebrate a winter holiday without clear references to the real world – no Santa in Tamriel, after all. Yes, the New Life Festival returns for another winter starting December 19th.

“During the New Life Festival, you will automatically enjoy a 100% boost to XP gain whenever you log in to the game, with no extra steps required!” ZeniMax Online Studios says. “If you’d like to join the party and toast the passing of another year with seasonal zest, complete the New Life Festival’s introductory quest and collect Breda’s Bottomless Mead Mug memento” via the free quest in the cash shop or from Breda in the New Life Festival tent in Eastmarch.

That intro quest unlocks the dailies for the event; naturally, completing these quests – repeatedly! – nabs you seasonal loot at random, including toys, crafting mats, incense, recipes, decor, charity writs, motif pages, bolts of specialty cloth, and the Runebox for the Surprising Snowglobe memento. Players can also snag event tickets to turn in for keys, a mount, a minipet, body markings, and a whole bunch of mementos – yes, including the snowglobe if your luck on the daily boxes is bad.

And of course, if you swap for all five items from Neulaure the Indrik Vendor, you can trade for the Haven of the Five Companions house:

The festival runs through January 7th.
