Fresh off of a March alpha test, the Das Tal team is parsing what worked well with the event, what didn’t, and what development needs to happen in coming months.
The devs posted a huge list today of the game’s upcoming features and improvements, starting with a “massive and utter redesign” of the game map to resemble a valley and be better organized for the playerbase. Other changes include a proper tutorial, achievements, a redesign of the XP system, territory control, a fight club, a friend finder, more settlement buildings, and a way to distinguish between veterans and new players.
As for the March event, the team said that the fun level was high and server stability remained impressive, but that it’s identified player retention as a serious issue. The team plans to address the facts that many players are leaving the game too soon due to ganking and that there aren’t enough goals to keep players interested after a certain point.
