Eternal Crusade upgrades to Unreal Engine 4

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade is about to start looking a whole lot more attractive when you oogle its screenshots. This is because Behaviour Interactive decided to make the switch to the Unreal Engine 4.

Behaviour CEO Rémi Racine said that the move will benefit the title in numerous ways: “After evaluating our engine options we decided that Unreal Engine 4 and the team at Epic offered the type of support and the best toolset to make the Warhammer world come to life. The sheer amount of productivity tools we get right out of the box have helped the game’s development progress significantly faster, allowing the team to ensure the highest quality at a rate we couldn’t have achieved before.”

You can get a first look at what Eternal Crusade looks like in Unreal Engine 4 after the jump!

chriskovo The RTS games were pretty good (especially the first iteration).  I don’t think this IP really lends itself to MMOs because the RPG is not about solo play or item progression but massive battles.  I think a 4x space game with RTS elements for the battles (or even turn-based) would be a great use of the Warhammer 40k license.  They’re basically trying to shoehorn a square peg into a round hole here.

I’m still excited for this game even with all the regression. I play all 4 (probably could have bought a car with all the Orks and Dark Angels I have) of the starting factions on tabletop and the art is definitely going in the right direction. I think this will do well as it looks like they are taking inspiration from 40k Space Marine multiplayer, which if you have never had the pleasure is amazing.

These people are incompetent. How was this stuff not decide before they even invested in anything!    For gods sake they didn’t even build up the server tech to handle an mmofps in the first place as they should have, so now they are converting it to a lobby shooter.   What a disaster on any front imaginable.   What is with the War hammer curse?  nothing seems to work out for them.   Was so looking forward to this as ps2 set in the Warhammer40k setting but its just gone to shit already and they haven’t even released anything yet!  I feel bad for anyone that bought one of their presale packs

Looks pretty cool but like a lot of modern games… depth of field, fog, blur in movement and chromatic aberration is a nasty, nasty combo for image quality.
Careful with that in a PvP game…
