Betawatch: Secret World Legends opens the beta doors (June 9, 2017)

If you’re an active player of The Secret World, you can get into the Secret World Legends beta at this point. Really, you can! The NDA is still in full effect, though, so this is different from the game’s headstart kicking off on June 23rd. You can also catch up on the current state of the various weapons, and take a look at both parts of MJ’s impressions about the title.

There was, of course, other beta news. How could we avoid it? The world is always in motion.

The fact that we have a whole bunch of games down below, though? That’s not a rumor. That’s a fact. There’s a list right down there, and if something has slipped into a new test phase without us noticing, we trust you to tell us. We also trust you to tell us about betas you’re enjoying. We trust you with lots of stuff.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.

Albion Online: Closed beta, launching July 17th

Got into Beta. Played for about 20 min then uninstalled. So little has changed. Still unpolished. The entire thing just feels like one big scam. Or the devs really are that ignorant.

Regarding tsw, i thought only those with an active and premium account can join?

I can see what Funcom is trying to do, I think they should have done it with a new title is all, but the concept is awesome Like GW1 you have a public space but the world is either private or for you and your group. Co-op RPG’s like this are becoming very popular, because the massive part of MMO’s menas you have to deal with all the douchenozzles of the world.

I have heard talk that SWTOR is considering the same model, if someone would make a good Fantasy game like SWL I would be all over it.

I’M thinking they are also doing this because people are just tied of dealing with the open world ass holes that come with mmos today. This way you can either just solo or play with your friends. The open world community in todays mm’s is so toxic and people are not flocking to these games like they used too.

Yeah I got one, from their unsecure email. Not bothering though, no thanks Funcom. I’ll pass this time around.

Yeah, I don’t see the point. Let me recreate my characters from scratch because you just made the old version of the game obsolete, then let me put in all the work progressing some new characters that will be wiped almost as soon as I get them into some decent gear? Talk about wasted effort.

I honestly don’t get some of the flak I’m getting from some posters for having that same frame of mind on this subject. It’s not like we’ve been impatient, if anything those of us who have been playing their games for ten or more years have been extremely patient. (shrugs)

“If you have an account for The Secret World, you can get into the Secret World Legends beta at this point. Really, you can!”

Really, you can’t.

Signed up and got mine immediately. I saw the post on FB/Twitter that anyone who has logged in within the last 30 days would get in – logged in 45 minutes before midnight – and had my invite by the end of the following day.

Dunno what to tell you, but that’s my experience.

I am a GM that plays that game 2-4 times a week every week since it launched. So not every one can play. Not in yet.

I just signed up for a beta key and they emailed it right out.

I did too, and if they mailed it right out, it wasn’t to me :-P

No such luck here, it must be more than a month since my last login

Okay, I thought you had to have logged into TSW proper within the last 30 days to be able to play in the SW:L beta as of today. Which is it, Massively? Do you have to have logged in within the last month, or is simply having an account enough, like it seems to indicate at the top of this post?

I don’t see any SW:L download links or access indications in my online TSW account….

Yup, if you’ve logged in within the last 30 days you’ll get one. I log in once a month pretty much to check things and I definitely got one yesterday. I was amused that it was sent via an unsecure email server. Nice going Funcom.

Just follow the link “really, you can” in the second sentence. There you can read this:

“On June 9th, everyone with an active TSW account in good standing will be invited to the beta,” Funcom broadcast. “We’ll let you know when they’re being sent!”

An account in “good standing” means anyone who has logged into the game in the past 30 days. It should be noted that the NDA is still in effect and that all beta characters will be wiped before the launch, so this shouldn’t be considered in the same category as the early start.

Nathan Aldana they really think the NDA is going to survive letting anyone with an account in?

Lets hope they just forgot to remove the NDA and its not one of there normal things where they hide the crap job they have done behind the NDA hoping they can get a few more sells or something in. I mean this is Funcom and its not like they haven’t attempted to do things like this before.

Here is to hopping that the revamped SW is good. I liked the original and here is to hopping they didnt destroy too much of what made that one good.
