EverQuest II’s newest progression server enters the Desert of Flames while production servers prepare for the Planes of Prophecy expansion
After a summer of dwelling in beginner region bliss, EverQuest II’s newest progression server is taking a step forward into expansions for the first time.
Fallen Gate, a time-locked progression shard that requires a membership to play, opens up Desert of Flames today for everyone to explore. In addition to raising the level cap to 60, the expansion opens up the Island of Ro and the city of Maj’Dul. Desert of Flames originally launched for the MMORPG back in September 2005, so it is fortuitous that this unlock happens on the expansion’s 12th anniversary.
Next up for the Fallen Gate server is the Kingdom of Sky expansion. Players on this server can run heritage quests to earn special items to share with their characters on regular servers. Back in July of this year, Massively OP’s MJ said that she was “falling for” this server and its structure.
Meanwhile, over in original flavor EverQuest II, Daybreak is preparing for the Planes of Pprophecy expansion announced without much fanfare earlier this week. The prelude event for that expansion went live yesterday, and now the studio’s explained just what to expect from it – it’s called Strange Sensations.
Experienced practitioners of the arcane don’t seem to be affected by the mysterious change, but those learning to wield magical energies are having a hard time controlling it. While nothing catastrophic has yet occurred, scholars are having a difficult time understanding what is causing the subtle change, and what the ramifications of this occurrence might be.
It will come to the adventurers of Norrath to help those scholars begin to piece together what is happening, and how it must be addressed. Heroes of all levels should expect a letter from one of the schools of magic, imploring them to lend some assistance to the researchers and see if they can get to the bottom of what is happening to the magic of Norrath.
All characters can participate in the prelude expansion event, as the quest requires no prerequisites. Those who complete the quest will be granted Mysteries of the Keeper, which will advance one of your Acension classes from level 10 to level 11 when consumed!
