The Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event is coming back to SWTOR in June

How do you pronounce Nar Shaddaa? When I was devouring Star Wars books in the 1990s and playing the crap out of the Dark Forces series, I always heard it as Nar Shade-ah in my mind. Then Star Wars: The Old Republic came around and all the NPCs were saying Nar Sha-DAH, which makes me giggle every time.

Anyway, the Nar Shaddaa Nightlife event is coming back to a server near you between June 9th and August 25th, according to the preliminary 3.2.1 patch notes that BioWare posted on its forums this morning.

Polyanna Boardwalker  Thanks for the great explanation, Polyanna. That’s exactly what I was looking for.

Boardwalker The advantage is that they are orange (moddable) shells that you can fill with whatever components you like, then hand down from one character to another to another. Most ordinary gear binds to your character when you equip it the first time, so it can’t be reused for alts. But with legacy gear you just mod it out once, and then you can use it over and over on other characters, as long as the stats are appropriate.

It’s useful mainly if you have a lot of alts, or plan to level a bunch during the 12x event. You can setup up legacy bound (account bound) weapons and armor sets at a few different levels, and then just keep them in your legacy bank, for alts to pull out and use, then return, as they level up.

I’ve always pronounced it Nar Sha-DAH.

Polyanna  I’m new to the game, so I’m curious: what is the purpose of legacy weapons? Are they better than the current weapons you can buy with commendations as you level? Do people buy them for cosmetic reasons?

It’s been consistently pronounced that way in Star Wars games since the 90s, hasn’t it?

Time to blow an inordinate amount of credits farming up a bank full of legacy weapons.

Nar Shade-ah sounds like some weird pronunciation of Darth Vader.

Always read it how the NPCs say it.

Celestial Vincynt I’m ok with the adds, I totally get why they’re there and I even click on one here and there to help out.  The problem is just the formatting of them on that 1920×1200 resolution on my work pc.  I’m at home now running 1920×1080 and it’s all good.

Neither? I’ve always said Shah-DAY-uh.
