Blade & Soul

Some folks from fan site Blade & Soul Dojo have started a petition that asks NCsoft to consider an Oceanic server for its upcoming Blade & Soul MMORPG. Given that B&S is action-oriented and given “the way the game’s net code was designed,” petitioners are hoping for a local server in order to reduce latency and ping problems that “severely effect one’s attack speed/DPS/skill activation and mobility.”

According to petition author Nathan Conti, NCsoft has said that it might support additional servers if the company feels that there is enough demand in a particular region.

shayneary Probably all we need really. Not sure we have the numbers (wanting to play B&S) necessary for more than one.

I love playing Blade and Soul and would love an Oceanic server. I have a few friends that would love it too. xo

Cyberlight Wow, I can’t believe we have a better ping in here ( Tahiti ). Our ping is around 120 ms at best, all the way down to 300ms on bad days. In the past we had an hilariously bad 1200ms+ when I used to play FFXI. Fun times :)

Cyberlight Trust me, Australia is in that exact same boat.
Although with the servers now in Sydney, the NZ ping for WoW should be A LOT better now.

I live in NZ and internet technology here is prehistoric. I can’t speak for Australia, but I imagine it’s not light years ahead of us either. I truly envy you antipodeans who consistently enjoy ping in the double (or even single) digits. I call 200-300ms ping “normal”. And when I first played WoW, it was closer to 300-400ms.

Indeed, keyword being unofficial, chosen by the community. Those are always the best servers by far.

Ekphrasis Warhammer… well that speaks for itself.  SWTOR was too little too late.  Everyone was already on established servers with raid guilds etc.

Gottphoenix Only reduces it by a little. You are still looking at pings of 200-300+ for US and EU servers.

dirtyklingon kgptzac Which should make it easy to at least use a closer country as the server for the Oceanic servers, even if they don’t put one in Australia itself.  Like how we use Tonberry for FFXIV because the ping to Japan is lower.
