Black Desert Korea adds bounty hunting and jail

With Black Desert on its way to the west in 2016, it’s not a bad idea to be giving more attention to what’s happening with the Korean version, as we’ll probably be benefiting from those updates sooner or later as well.

Steparu is reporting that Black Desert’s newest content update includes a pair of PvE dungeons: Akman Temple and Ruins of Histria. Even more interesting is the addition of a jail and bounty system for PvPers. In the Valencia zone, penalties for player killing (and dying) have been reduced, while those participating can rack up positive or negative karma that could lead to a bounty hunting-type situation.

To bolster the new system, there are two new towns in the region, one for positive karma fighters and one for those dastardly negative karma killers.

Wow, I’m sorry I seem to have stepped on your toes.  I’m talking about an actual experience that actually happened in ArcheAge.  Not sure if it can/would be repeated in Black Desert, but more than likely would be.   Murder tracks don’t say “is a bot” next to the character’s name.  Players just report blankly and the jury -if paying attention at all instead of “lolz, guilties!”- slacks it up as major PKing.
Nobody with an ounce of sanity wants to spend their free time playing a video game by not playing a video game.   Being penalized and required to basically AFK/alt-tab the game for 6 hrs kills the game for many players.  That is not innovation, it is archaic design in the crudest form possible.  It is also very counter intuitive to design any PvP system at all with that kind of limiting.

Siphaed Damonvile Report the bots then lol, they are the ones that loose the money from a b2p acc… and if you are pvping jusst for bots… well that kinda defeats the purpose of a pvp game.

Siphaed Damonvile Then get the fuck out? Jebus. Any innovation is stifled by people like you.

The features of Archeage are fantastic and its prolly the best and most fun mmo to play !…….if it wasnt such a ridiculous pay to win mmo.

Fingers crossed Black Desert stays away from that crap.

Armsbend Samizdat Robert80 I find it bad enough in Counterstrike when I have to wait at the end of a round to respawn. I’m playing a game to play the game, not sit and wait to play.

Not really. Miniscule is miniscule (funny the spell checker thinks that isn’t the proper spelling, it is).
The HP difference from soft cap to +2-5 levels above it, at least back when soft was 50, wasn’t even notable. The cheapest healing potions healed more than it.
I’d love to find some quotable info on all what changes, sadly I’m having little luck so much of it is conjecture, and I really haven’t touched the game in quite a few months.
What might be worth looking into, if you actually are concerned about level differences is actual numbers on what changes.
Does 5 hp matter when you’ve got 3k? And hit for 500? At what point do you consider non-concern? Is there one? If not, you do understand that perfect “environment” won’t exist in this game. I’d hope that was clear as soon as you saw that it was a game.

Ecchiboy1 Alakuu Armsbend Loreins Has nothing to do whatsoever with level. More to do with gear. And *especially* at the time broken mess that was pvp. Even contesting.
So lets attempt to turn this into a logical argument for you.
What you need to prove anything related to your point.

1. What is Steparu’s level vs theirs.
2. Difference in gear.
3. Reason very little fought back.
4. Tamer balanced at the time? *Not to my memory*

What we see visible
1. Bunch of people on a whale.
2. They’re all attempting to gather from the whale.
3. They continue to attempt to gather from the whale after dying multiple times.
4. They don’t fight back. And the few that do don’t keep it up.
5. No info on their levels.
6. No info on gear differences.
7. Leaving guild to avoid PvP. Why?

I’ll say this again, AFTER soft cap, levels mean very little. Very little. Gear is a primary issue, class balance is a primary issue, PvP karma design is a primary issue. Costumes, and exp differences matter only to those looking for excuses.

You want to make sure people are aware what the game is and isn’t? Then at least try to provide information, not video clips that do nothing to understanding the topic, and instead make more questions.

Shamancard Alakuu Fanboy no? Sense when does attempting to be calm, reasonable, and not sensationalist make someone a fanboy?
Costumes with bonus’ hmm, so what are those? Do you get fighter jets as a bonus? What line do you draw?

Crafting Exp? Hmm. Man. That is so not game breaking.
Combat Exp? Hmm. Man. That while a very small amount more of a issue, isn’t game breaking in the slightest.
Hmm can I wear 20 costumes at once? Now that. Might, but likely isn’t, gamebreaking.
I’ve played the KR version, levels past softcap matter very little. The extra health is moot due to the potion chugging fest.
There are problems. Costumes with + % exp, life exp, combat exp, are not anywhere near as large as other potential problems with this game. And the above “attempt” to bring PvP back in a better, more deep manner is a push in the RIGHT direction.

What I see on the Q&A section is just that, nearly nothing, like Miffi said. What might I ask are you getting upset about? What makes you feel the need to knee jerk label people?

Samizdat Robert80 as a pvp player I don’t understand why i have to go to jail for following the rules the game put forth.  I do know I’m not playing it though.  They already have a bunch of strikes against them they act as if we really care whether this game makes it or not.  Hint:  no one cares if Pearl Abyss goes belly up.
