World of Warships embarks on community event ‘Project R’

Who would like a new destroyer? Wargaming just launched a five-week community event for World of Warships to bring the Kamikaze R destroyer back to life from salvaged blueprints. Dubbed Project R (for restoring a warship), the event is composed of in-game missions and progress milestones that will net players pearls and in-game rewards as well as a chance for Razer headsets and sound software. If the final milestone is met, the Japanese destroyer will be added to the premium shop, and 1,000 random participants who earned 150 or more pearls will receive the ship for free. To learn more and to join the effort, visit the official site and sign up! The event ends on February 14th.

Wratts ThatLanteshGuy You’re quite welcome. They don’t explain that at all and I see a good number of new players coming in and getting confused by that, so you aren’t alone in that. PvP mode gives you significantly more rewards in every category, so you should notice things going faster once you jump in there. Even a loss in PvP will give you more than a win in PvE. You will also start getting achievement medals which give you consumable signal flags that boost your ship performance. Can’t get those in PvE.

PvE does have uses though. Mainly as a training mode when you get a new ship so you can get used to it. I also like to use it to grind up an upgrade or two in PvE when I get a new ship as taking a stock ship with no upgrades at all is rather brutal in PvP. I also use it sometimes when I feel like shooting things in my ship but don’t really feel like going up against other players. Sometimes it’s nice to just fool around and shoot some bots lol.

ThatLanteshGuy Wratts Aha!  Thanks, you’re almost certainly right.  The need to switch between bots and PVP wasn’t at all clear to me

Wratts When you first start playing, the game doesn’t let you into PvP mode right off. It makes you play on Co-op which is PvE. They do this so new players can get adjusted to the game without being slaughtered right off the bat. After you get a few battles down it lets you select the PvP mode which is Random Battle. Make sure to manually change the mode from Co-op to Random next to the Battle button at the top. It should be a drop down menu to switch. 19 wins in 20 rounds sounds like PvE since the bots there aren’t the smartest.

I bet everyone is on pins and needles wondering if the boat will unlock in the cash shop.

Just started playing this yesterday, and having the weirdest experience of winning almost every round.  Out of ~20 rounds, I’ve lost 1 and that only when we were all too far away from our home objective to get it before the last enemy captured the point.
I’m sure this will change if/when I get deeper in, but normally my first days in a pvp game are a source of very painful learning

Hackholm Oh you’ll discover grind once you get past tier 5 in Warships. But honestly, just enjoy the game and the money/exp will come.
