Black Desert’s second Mediah update brings new pirate events, cash shop buyables

Mediah part two launches in Black Desert today, bringing with it several class fixes, monster adjustments, the temporary removal of specific North American channels, and a ridiculous number of new mounts, pets, furniture, and gear in the cash shop. Nothing says MMORPGs like buying digital underwear with actual money. (No really, there’s a mystifying amount of underwear for sale now.)

Tungrad Forest, Hasrah Dungeon, Kuit Islands are also now unlocked.

Kuit Islands (Pirate Islands) – Adventurers brave enough t’challenge th’ wicked Pirates of Kuit Islands be returnin’ with fine booty if they be skilled enough not t’walk th’ plank

Tungrad Forest – Only th’ mightiest scallywags should enter Tungrad Forest, or rival landlubbers be eatin’ them faster than a bad case o’ scurvy

Hasrah Dungeon – A dark ‘n mysterious cavern filled with th’ broken remains o’ ancient golems that be sendin’ chills down yer spine soon as ye look at it

The patch likewise introduces a new round of Mediah events, including a Mother’s Day quest series for the “Motherlover” title and a pirate-themed quest to kill monsters and take their rum, which you can either drink or trade for house deco and pirate cosmetics. Bottoms up.

Nobody talks about it much but I don’t think the PvE part of this game is bad at all.  My gut says the PvP players are the ones most unhappy with BDO.  For PvE players, you have a chance to enjoy the game for a really long time without any danger at all.  By the time you reach level 45, you’re savvy enough (I would assume) to handle yourself a bit, or you know where not to go, or perhaps you might just roll a new avatar, and call that endgame.  But that’s a long time, and that’s an awful lot to do up to level 45 if you want to be “hardcore PvE” and treat that as level cap.
I like the quests, I have found the foes to be kind of interesting (pumpkin head men and such, you’d only see in a couple games on Halloween maybe, but here you gotta battle ’em in the pumpkin patch at Alejandro Farm) and varied, the fact that your mount is in mortal danger from PvE mobs (who will gleefully kill him), etc., those black spirit quests aren’t always just slam dunk easy, or always vanilla, I rather enjoy them.  I loved and revered LOTRO, but hey? it’s awful heavy on wolf-bear-boar-goblin-spider quests. You kill thousands of ’em over the course of your character’s life.  There’s pretty decent variety of critters in BDO so far.
Sure, mobs at level 10 mostly will only fight in self-defense, but by level 20 they are nasty, and their aggro range can be longer than you expected..

Haven’t touched the game since the Blader/Plum (yes, I’m still calling them that) release. They got me excited for the Ninja/Kuo release that was supposed to come this month that I’ve been waiting for since before launch…..then it got delayed. No desire to continue leveling a class I don’t want.

Cujo H Far preferable to some games where you get what appear to be an endless stream of gunny sacks to wear, though. practically none of the gear in LOTRO looks like anything but drab leathers and cloths.

Yeah, but at the same time how many western players still think the Musa is a Samurai?
