Pet lovers, perk up: Project Gorgon is grooming its animal handling skill to be better than before.

According to a new dev diary on the subject, the old skill wasn’t providing the right synergy between owner and pet: “The idea behind the skill is that you and your pet are working together as a team, but in practice you’ve mostly just been fighting side by side, each doing your own thing […] So in the rewrite I wanted to provide more control over your pets’ behavior in combat. It would also be great if different kinds of pets were useful for different scenarios or different gear builds.”

Basically this means that the various pets in the game, from the lowly sewer rat to the mighty Frangsworth, will all get new attack skills and draw from their own power pools to execute them. When the revisions go live, animal handling’s skill cap will be raised to 60.
