The Daily Grind: What hurts your MMO immersion?

I am more than OK with the knowledge that there are thousands of other world-saving chosen ones in my MMORPGs, probably because it takes a lot of the pressure off of my shoulders to succeed. Hey, even if I faceplant, the odds are pretty good that one of these ripped heroes will put an end to evil.

But every so often something small will rudely yank me out of the fantasy that I concoct for myself with the aid of the game. Sometimes it’s something as small as seeing a clone of my character features or seeing another player use my exact same Star Wars: The Old Republic companion. What? I’m not a special snowflake? My world is falling apart!

Let us talk about immersion today and those little events that pull us out of the game world and force us to see the mechanics underneath or dispel the illusions that make up our MMOs. What hurts your MMO immersion?
