Here are all of the class nerfs and buffs coming with SWTOR’s 5.9

Just like a certain farmboy looking wistfully up at twin suns and thinking of his future, Star Wars: The Old Republic fans are looking ahead to next month’s Update 5.9 and the changes that it will bring. Among those will be the continuing effort to balance and adjust the game’s many class builds.

So what, exactly, is on the docket for class changes with 5.9? Tanks need to brace themselves for a nerf “across the board,” as BioWare says that they are doing too much damage. On the upside, tanks will get more threat generation to help in their role. Many non-tank builds are due for some utility changes to improve their survivability in combat encounters.

The team also called out Marauders and Sentinels for special changes, as they are “overperforming” according to the devs. While they’ll be getting a nerf to two of their combat skills, two other skills are being tweaked to reduce damage in a crowd control situation.

taunt and mass taunt damage reuction must be nerfed or removed alltogether for pvp,try to kill a healer with guard on himwhile you are taunted. Its not even funny .You need like 10 people to do it.

You see? That is what is great about SWTOR, Dulfy. Thank Yoda for Dulfy. Still going strong after all this time.

Kudos Dulfy, we love you! :)

As for the rest… I’m starting to get the feeling that there is a concerted effort to keep me away from SWTOR.

My main was a Jugg so she wouldn’t be hit all that hard by the tank nerfs but wow are PTs getting hit and hit hard.

Wasn’t the main purpose or at least one of the purposes of this to curb so called ‘skank tanks’ in PvP? This doesn’t address this as tanks will still jump into DPS gear for PvP, just be slightly worse at it.

They’ve still not fixed defense (Jugg’s main mitigation stat, or at least it was) working against yellow damage. That should be fixed before anything else for PvE.

PT’s got hit the hardest because PT’s actually have the highest damage as tanks by a significant margin. I was the off tank for my guild’s raids so I was lesser geared and I was smoking the main tank’s damage, and it didn’t detract from my survivability either because PT’s survivability is very passive.

But for PvP, the nerfs affect tank damage modifiers so even in DPS gear, it will still be a substantial nerf. People will still skank tank even with the nerfs because the main reason they’re doing it is because of the survivability compared to their DPS counterparts, especially DPS Juggs and PT’s.

Their survivability was nerfed awhile back so a lot of players switched to tank spec just so they could live long enough and have a guaranteed group spot for ranked arena to Guard the healer. Bioware is once again attacking the result instead of the problem that produced the result.

My PT was my back up tank and hadn’t played her since…2014? So no idea the damage balance had gotten that out of hand. I do recall her using shield/absorb more than my Jugg who was more reliant on cooldowns too, much like you say here.

I never PvPed in SWTOR at all but heard about the skank tank issue for years, especially rage Juggs at one point with the old talent trees. BW just can’t seem to even understand the issues much less address them.

They shouldve stuck to single player games because they have mismanaged this MMO every single step of the way
