World of Warcraft’s 5M gold dinosaur mount is 5M gold worth of awesome

Forget hulking wooly mammoths, swooping dragons, and motorcycle sidecars: The most desirable World of Warcraft mount yet is coming in Battle for Azeroth — and it has a mighty hefty price tag attached.

The Reins of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur may only be a ground mount, but it’s still going to be the chase item for many players. First of all, it’s a huge dinosaur, and that’s makes the inner five-year-old in all of us happy. But second, the brutosaur mount contains both an auctioneer and a merchant. That’s right: You’ll be able to summon your own auctioneer anywhere in the world.

Such functionality won’t come cheap, however. The mount will cost both Alliance and Horde players 5,000,000 gold to obtain. That cost can be defrayed a bit by maxing out your reputation with certain factions, taking it from 5M to 4M if you play the patience game.

I have no problem for special cosmetics cost so much gold… but this mount is not just cosmetic.. it has fuctionality… it enhance gameplay, like the yak mount with transmog.

Imagine to be able to just mount up and sell your stuff to ah and empty your bags…

So this mount should be accessible to most playerbase not a dick move to bait for tokens.. this is the first blizzard mistake since they introduced the token and i fear that they will go deeper to this shady tactics…

If this mount was available only on the Blizzard store, then you might have a basis on which to complain.

But because this mount is attainable by anyone in the game who wants to work toward a goal, your complaint sounds like sour grapes from someone who can’t get stuff for free (or through little effort).

It may sell a few but this mount seems less likely to be for tokens rather it is a gold sink.

IMO, the people who have the least gold – and are the obvious candidates for buying tokens – are not going to be excited about an auctioneer. (OTOH, an expensive vanity mount that poops on a corpse you have slain would seem like a play for tokens from competitive but broke children.)

The people who care the most about gold are going to be able to, usually, conveniently, pay for this with gold without buying any tokens.

IMO, the number of people who both really care about gold/auctioning while not having gold is much smaller than don’t care or the care-but-have-4M groups.

Those who care about gold will not buy it as they will never make that money back from this investment… its just a convenience… not something that will increase your gold income.

Also gold sink for whom? Who the hell has 5m gold? Only a select few. Gold sinks in game are not made for the select few but for the whole playerbase. This is not a gold sink, this clearly a mount for whales.

it’s a logical step. All I can say there are ships in STO that has exchange vendor (AH vendor in that game). Tho the ferengi ship is freely available to everyone as event ship.

What does it do better than the default horse mount that I would need it for?

AH and vendor.

Too big. Needs to cost more so we see it even less.

Good idea. The game needs more money sinks.

I’m sitting on 1.25 million which for me is a huge amount of money so never getting this one. I probably could make that if I played more or pushed alts to also make money via the missions and world quests but I’ve got other games to play. It does look cool I admit but not 5 million cool, at least not for me.

Either there’s an awful lot of gold to siphon out of the game (and there is) or they found out that, thanks to tokens, slapping insane gold prices on luxury ingame goodies earns them the same as selling them for real money in the cash shop… or probably several magnitudes more than that.

Imagine the rates for tokens in a few months time…

I’d say definitely both. The characters that I have been playing have between 20k to 60k gold and that’s just casually playing with class hall quests, world quests, and vending junk.

I’m sure someone who puts more effort into the game than I do would probably only be a few mill short of that 5M, if they haven’t already reach that goal. For everyone else: Tokens!

Players who are serious about making gold in Legion already have this amount of gold from just playing, before that they made their gold from garrison and some of them payed for subscription by gold … for many it just matter of time, if they don’t spend their gold on other stuff.

I’ll never get that much

So you can get 218,557 gold for a WoW token which costs $20. So this dino mount will costs approx. $457 — I’m sure the whales will have no problem dropping that.

Surprised you’ve not weaved in a “P2W” mention in that post.

Whales are why mmo’s have things like this now.
