Airborne swine become World of Warcraft’s latest sparklepony sale

If you ever caught yourself saying, “Spend money on World of Warcraft’s cash shop? When pigs fly, mister,” then your day has come.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, Blizzard has put another $25 mount on its store to sell. The Hogrus mount is a pig that can sprout golden wings and fly around. The studio stressed that the purchase of this mount will be account-wide, so all of your characters can get one.

“Today, Pandaren across Azeroth consider Hogrus to be a sign of prosperity and great things to come,” Blizzard posted. “You would be wise to seek his blessing as you pursue your own fortune, wherever the four winds may take you.”

Blizzard’s calling this mount the “Swine of Good Fortune,” but the question is — is that fortune yours, or the studio’s? Because one party there is gaining $25 and one is losing it.

Pretty sure a bunch of games have sold more than 25 dollars mounts by this point. Overpircing has remained alive and well across the board sadly.

I remember Perfect World International flying mounts started from 10 for cheapest up to 100 for most expensive. I havent touched the game in ages though

Thanks Schlag for the vote of confidence, while not a Meme per say I know you’d appreciate the irony.

I am tempted to post Water’s more recent concert footage of Pigs (Three Different Ones) he did in Mexico. But my pigtails would likely get raked over coals for the “odd political interjection” again. :(

Here is the thing

This isnt a big deal

Its just a flying pig

The big deal, however, is how this is just one more thing that shows how out of touch Blizzard is with their player base. Players dont want a flying pig mount, and yet blizzard not only felt the need to make one, and put a decent effort into doing so (its got decent animations and modeling), but they also feel like selling it for full price.

Their marketing team is failing… bad. They have NO clue what their customers want anymore.

To be fair there were flying mounts for sale when I played too. And I think they were between 20 and 30 euros, but a flying warpig? Imagine it crush land, watch your heads, the flying warpig of doom is nosediving!

I honestly don’t see this as a big deal. It’s not like I didn’t have a bunch of flying mounts that I didn’t have to pay RL money for already. I did buy that armored bat mount off the shop as I liked it for my Goblin Warlock and various Trolls. I don’t really like this mount personally but I don’t see anything to be alarmed about here.

You know…I was thinking of getting one of those for very reason. But I can’t think for the life of me where there are any long slender smoke stacks in all the zones that allow flight in WoW. :(

Gilneas perhaps, maybe the Goblin starter area but that won’t help you much, are there any in Boralus?

I don’t remember there being large slender smokes like the Battersea Power Station in the UK. And besides, you can’t fly in Kezan…either in the start zone or the BFA instance that follows that up.

Thanks for the suggestions though. :)

You can farm a week for 2 tokens to purchase the mount. If you put it on a ingame vendor it will be between 300k to 500k but 2 tokens cost 250k. All other games make it hard to buy ingame currency but in wow 120k per token can be made in a day.

Everything in the cash shop can be earned ingame with minimal effort but go into ESO of FF14 and earn currency. For all it’s faults that i love to complain about in WoW the cash shop is not one of them. Best cash shop in a mmo and had so much gold at one point i had 400 bucks in Blizzard cash.

“Minimal effort” like being logged in 20 hours a day and grinding your fingers bloody. But sure, keep telling yourself that as you wonder why you are burned out.

Outrage! Unsubscribing!

Seriously though, I only just remembered that I was still subscribed and started to wonder why since I hadn’t played for a month and suddenly discovered that I had a lot of time to do things I actually enjoy. Go figure.

But yeah, two $25 cash shop months in the space of 6 weeks? That both shows their desperation and where their priorities lay.

Good to know their priorities are in order.
