While we knew that yesterday’s extended downtime for both of Standing Stone Games’ MMOs was going to be lengthy, initially there was hope that the data center work would be done sooner than the projected 22 hours.
This did not happen. In fact, the opposite happened, as the behind-the-scenes difficulties resulted in announcement after announcement about delays in getting both Dungeons and Dragons Online and Lord of the Rings Online back, you know, online, meaning they were inaccessible overnight.
Now it looks like the earliest that fans might get to play is this evening: “Due to continued hardware troubleshooting at the data center we are extending our downtime to 5:00 PM Eastern (-5 GMT) today. We apologize for the delay, and will keep you updated.” Players shouldn’t really expect any vast improvement on either game’s performance following this work.
