Prepare to ride like royalty, Red Dead Online players; the game’s latest update brings a new Showdown game mode, Sport of Kings, which will test players’ equestrian skills and marksmanship alike. In Sport of Kings, four to eight players divided into two teams will saddle up and compete to gain control of a single burning torch that they must then use to to light all of their team’s signal fires in order to score. It won’t be easy, however, as all players will be armed with sawed-off shotguns, and they can also pick up sporadically spawning single-shot dynamite bows to bring some boom from long range.
In addition to the new Showdown mode, the update also introduces three new fashionable clothing items — the Strung Sombrero, the Gibbston Pants, and an all-black variant of the Cuparosa Poncho — which players can order from teh Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue. And to top it all off, for the next two week, players who have reached rank 10 will be receiving some kindly care packages containing bait and special arrows, and those who have advanced all the way to rank 20 will get some additional goodies in the form of provisions and big game meats. If you’re not quite there yet, don’t worry; this week, all activities will provide a 30% boost to experience gain, so get out there and earn your care packages, cowpokes.
