MJ its not matter the level, the good thing about FO76 is that if you not attaking back no one can kill you.
there is pvp mode and BR coming for people who like pvp, but if you playing pve you safe from jerks.

also you could just start over or block him :)

im not fan of the survival part of the game but most of the people are really nice, thinking about starting over after the human npc coming.

We were in a relatively safe area, so it was easy to just stand there and let the other player try to get a reaction. If we were being attacked, though, with the way he was jumping around in front of (and on top of) us, it looked like he was trying to be hit. All we needed to do was hit Alt or click at the wrong moment, and we’d have been flagged for PvP?

I have only played about 2 hours of the game, but that does not seem to be very safe from jerks. The only real option we had if we wanted to keep playing was log out, wait a bit, and log back in hoping he did not find us again.

Maybe it is harsh to say this one person decided me against getting the game, but there are too many other options out there these days for me to waste my time dealing with people who can ruin a game experience so easily. Maybe I’ll check it out again if they have another free trial at some point after the update.

Blocking removes their ability to track you on the map and they cannot interact with you either through speech or trade request. If you moved away and lost him in the forest it would have been hard for him to find you.

Once you have been to a few places unlocked on the map all you need to do is teleport away to a new location and they have no way to know where you are.

Yeah it sucks when you meet a jerk but that is true for any game and it is a shame you met one right out of the game. While I can’t say I haven’t met any while playing 76 their ability to spoil things can be managed so you can enjoy the game.

I am sorry this one seems to have soured you on 76 but there is a good game in there if you give it a chance.

Great respond mate.
there are reason why not to like FO76 but the players is not one of them.

Thanks. I did not know blocking would not let the other player see you on the map. As long as you are able to get out of sight and the troll is not determined enough to track you down (at early levels, we probably can’t get far), that can help.

Also, was just reading about pacifist mode that can be turned on at level 5. My big fear was accidentally being flagged for PvP with someone jumping around as you tried to fight an enemy, so being able to turn off the ability to hit other players is good.

I might jump back in there this weekend and get to 5, just to give that a look.

Oh gosh yup totally forgot about that.

I wish I could have remembered this stuff to tell you all in stream but well 2 am is not a great time for me to remember stuff. It is a challenge just typing to be honest and if its coherent well that is probably more luck than judgement, hehe :-)

I got the feeling that you all went away a bit disappointed thanks to the actions of one idiot which is a shame.

I hope that you all get the chance to go back at some point and can get to see some of what the game offers in terms of story, exploring, crafting and base building.

i get what you saying, there are stupid players in any multiplayer game.
the pvp flag working after lv5 if you hit back.

you dont need to logout just block the person and then quit to menu and start again and you start in a new instance.

sad to watching this guy ruin the fun, i can say i didnt play alot of time but all the people i saw were really nice and no one tried to “kill” me.

if you like the Fallout World and exploration, its worth to buy the game (bc of the sell)

but only if you like the world and the system, if not its not worth it XD

I do like the world and the idea of the game in general (especially after they add in NPCs and other more Fallout RPG aspects), so after reading BBB’s comment and knowing what blocking a player and turning on pacifist mode can do, I might try again this weekend.

Other than the troll, the game also disconnected once and failed to log in at all once, crashing to desktop. Given that those were issues I’d heard about from launch, if it happens again too many times, that may also be a reason to hold off until it is at least more stable game-wise even if the stability of some players will always be in doubt. :)

That is so not true. They do less damage to the extent that you can escape if you try to escape, and you can still teleport when being attacked by players, but they absolutely can kill you. They normally follow someone around the entire map as you warp around taking advantage of the fact that most people don’t know about blocking them to not be tracked anymore. Having to quit out and go back in a different map until you meet more griefers isn’t that fun either.

The game is filled with bored griefers. And they so can too kill you and do a huge amount of damage to you if you try to ignore them. Maybe if you fight back the system would boost your damage enough to be able to kill them at lower level, I don’t know because I haven’t tried that enough and won’t now because the game is long uninstalled and won’t be finding a place on my HD again.

Well, maybe, maybe if they finally let people totally join worlds where everybody is forced to have Pacifist mode turned on I’d go back. People that don’t want to deal with the griefers shouldn’t have to constantly run from them and block them. If Bethesda wants to be stubborn and not allow what thousands of people ask for, we can simply choose not to play their game. We’re not going to just play anyway and deal with stuff we don’t want to deal with, there are too many other games out there where we don’t have to do that.
