Ashes of Creation trots out great-looking stallions

In MMORPGs, horses are to mounts as humans are to races — in other words, they’re the default standard. And for a reason, because who doesn’t love and appreciate these majestic steeds that just want to run free and represent the indomitable spirit that exists inside every seven-year-old girl? Besides, which one of us doesn’t have an imaginary horse named Jericho that’s voiced by Paul Rudd?

Ahem. Sorry. Got off track there. Anyway, as standard as horses may be, their design and inclusion in fantasy settings are practically a must. Rest assured, Ashes of Creation is on top of horses in more ways than one (two, to be exact) and will be working it into one of the game’s profession skill lines.

“In Ashes of Creation, the horse represents one of the first and fundamental animals in the animal husbandry profession,” the studio posted. “Players can expect to find a wide variety of horse species existing in both domesticated form from stable merchants, as well as in the wild with more exotic features and traits.”

Functionable mounts with thier own set of bred traits sounds encouraging. Allowing them to be another player controlled commodity is the right move. The more this game can be player run economy based, the better.

As long as it doesn’t work like BDO’s horses I’ll be happy. Between tiers, levels, skills, death counts, breeding limits, etc… it’s so incredibly RNG based that you might as well not bother, unless of course you want pull out your credit card.

BDO requires you to pull out your credit card. The game is so pay-to-win, I’m amazed people still play it.

Cool. Cool…

But, err, can you get them to look and play like BDO’s horses? Hmm..

No? Ok. How about we talk about the game release date? I mean, other games have cool horses.

You say this, but many players are gleefully awaiting games where they can play farmer and raise animals. The problem I personally foresee is the whole ‘Gambling’ % thing with horse traits…and RNG being involved…to the point where it’ll fill the servers with thousands upon thousands of failures that count against the server spawn amount…like happened in my old game…where one or two people on a server would monopolize whole areas by gathering up all the horses and shoving them in a pen and then blocking others from access while they tried to master getting ‘the perfect horse’. Yes…this is a thing on games…lol

I’m curious what game this was? I know BDO has a garbage RNG horse trait/skill system, but the spawns were independent of horse populations as far as I know.

I don’t recommend the game because the staff support/are griefers and a whole host of other issues, but it was Wurm Online.
