Here are the realms WoW Classic is opening up for transfer – and the three new servers opening too

Last night, Blizzard announced something it’d previously said it didn’t want to do: It’s opening up character transfers for WoW Classic so that players on super high-population servers can pack their bags and move to the peace and quiet of the countryside on some of the newer, lighter pop servers.

It’s not, however, going to be a free-for-all. This morning, the studio revealed the server list and ground rules for the great migration.

“For approximately one day, the new realms will be restricted to only those players using a free character move,” Blizzard writes. “After one day, any player may create new characters there. This is to allow players using the free character move service a better chance at retaining the name of the character they’re moving.”

Of course, most of the folks on these queue-ridden servers were warned repeatedly for weeks to move before the game even started, and they opted to stay anyway, so it remains to be seen whether they’ll volunteer to emigrate now. Or “soon,” we should say, since that’s the timeframe still being given.

Do note that Blizz has said you’ll need to clean up your mail, auctions, and guild leader status before embarking on this journey. Are any of you taking the transfer bus?
