With several series finales and touching moments in history, fans of Star Trek have many ways to say goodbye. Now that former lead producer Maria Rosseau has departed Cryptic, many Star Trek Online fans are going with the time honored “all good things must come to an end,” as seems fitting. The good news is that this was in no way a sudden or unplanned departure and appears to be Rosseau simply moving on to other opportunities. There’s been no official statement on the matter, but since one of the game’s community managers is posting pictures of her farewell dinner, it seems to be a goodbye on good terms.
It should be noted that Rosseau had already departed STO to work on a separate project within Cryptic, presumably the still-in-development Magic: the Gathering MMO.
On an unrelated note, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen anyone create something truly bonkers in the game’s character creator, hasn’t it? Let’s check out The Joker in Star Trek Online, then. Yes, this is a thing someone made. No, we don’t yet know how someone would make a hero to stop him. We can guess it’d be in a bad-shaped ship, though, so probably some Romulan ship.
My 10 year mission is complete. Thank you Cryptic, for all the fish. I mean for all the fun.
And now I'm crying again. LOL I'll miss everyone at Cryptic, but now I'm on to different things.
And soon, a livestream! :D
