Those of us who were fascinated by Ascent: Infinite Realm’s initial reveal and promise of steampunk MMORPG bliss have long since accepted that the game is mired deep in the trenches of development hell now. There’s been a leadership shakeup behind the scenes, though, and there’s a promise that something is moving forward with the game’s new A:IR [Reverse] campaign that is supposedly building up to a big reveal coming out on April 1st. Which is hopefully just bad timing and not a big joke.
There’s a poll running on the game’s Korean version talking about a move away from tab-targeting combat and into a more action-oriented direction, which suggests that there might be major mechanical changes to combat and perhaps even other areas of the game. Of course, people with some memory might note that this sort of mid-development changeover rarely ends well, but perhaps this particular forward momentum gets the game back on track and moving ahead.
