Let’s be honest, if any MMO would want to hit a reset button for itself, it’d be ArcheAge Unchained. While the game’s entire rocky first year if history isn’t being wiped anytime soon, the Unchained servers are getting a fresh start. Or rather, there will be Fresh Start servers on Thursday, June 11th, rolling out in conjunction with the controversial Garden of the Gods expansion.
The latest FAQ confirms a number of details about these new servers, including that there will only be one server per region (queue time alleviation be damned), players will only be able to have one character per server, and they will be cut off from cross-world instances, meaning Arenas, Dungeons, Raids, and the Garden will draw only from the Fresh Start server population. That may change at a later time based on server growth.
Additionally, the servers will have an ArchePass, though restrictions to the pass, if any, have not been outlined yet, and the servers will be landlocked at the time of their opening; the time and date for the end of housing restrictions will be announced shortly and will be handled “similarly to all server starts in the recent past.”
As we’ve previously covered, this week’s impending launch has already been marred by controversy, thanks to Gamigo’s communication and decision to charge Unchained players for the expansion after having previously promised all content would be free. (It remains free for non-Unchained players.)
