Star Trek Online’s newest bundle contains a defective starship, but Cryptic is fixing it

Star Trek’s utopian future isn’t without its hiccups, Prime Directive mishaps, and ships in need of a product recall. Case in point, Star Trek Online’s newest bundle includes a mirror universe starship that’s not quite as advertised.

According to Cryptic, the Legendary Mirror Bundle “brings together some of the must-have items for any would-be mirror captain in Star Trek Online – account-wide costume unlocks, an intimidating pet, ground and space weaponry, a new Tier 6 starship, and more!”

Yet as several players have complained, the Legendary Dreadnought Cruiser that comes with this appears to be bugged. Apparently the ship is missing it’s intel powers and Lt. Commander universal bridge officer seat.

The good news is that Cryptic’s QA is on it: “This is indeed a bug and not by design. Can’t give you an exact date for it to be fixed but it’s already fixed internally which is a good sign for it going out fairly soon.”

Can’t give a date for it to be fixed is something with a very familiar ring to it from Cryptic lol

On the upside, it’s not actually a bad bundle, though I would argue the adorable Rottweiller is a viscious pet, its very cute :)

Easily the best part of the bundle after the ship in my opinion

I do enjoy STO; but this type of situation is unfortunately nothing new for Cryptic Studios. They have a habit of:

– Copy/Pasting old previously used copy as a baseline BUT, not really proofreading and updating/changing said marketing copy BEFORE they publish it. (Hell, more often than not, such announcements have the wrong date (usually the previous date the event was run).

– Not really QA-ing a new variant they make of an existing ship (IE – like in this case, the ‘new’ ship has layout or other elements of the existing ship.)

At Cryptic it often seems QA is job 999. (New Lockboxes are Job 1 <– but hell, sometimes they don't really QA those either.)

You’re not wrong. Many a discussion we have about this game goes like this:

“Hey, does anyone know if _____ applies to _____ or if it excludes _____”

“That’s a good question.”

“I doubt anyone at Cryptic knows.”

I still hope they will release some good KDF legendary ship. By the way this pack will apparently be fixed next week since Cryptic tends to release patches tuesdays and/or thursdays and nothing has been announced for today

I don’t have the money either way. But it is unfortunate that Romulans only get one Legendary ship (in a $120 bundle that never goes on sale past the initial release so far.) And Klingons don’t have a single one. I’d have thought that the “Year of the Klingon” would have gotten at least the classic D7 Battlecruiser or something. ( OnO )

Yes I also hope it wont be any 5-10 ship pack cause I wont be able to afford it either, but that is theoritical as we dont know if cryptic will release a KDF pack at all. Seeing they do have at least 2 good(but expensive) D7s(DSC Flight Deck MW one and the Temporal TOS one), I would like to see the B’rel first and maybe the Negh’Tev in legendary version

Romulans got some bundle recently that is cheaper, lets see if i can find it

apparently only its introductory price was 6k zen
