I had a lot of fun with Final Fantasy XIV this year. This is not in and of itself unusual; I usually have a lot of fun with the game. But I feel like that’s different from an evaluation of the game’s quality in an objective sense. I think that the game was, on a whole, among the best of breed all year long, but there were certainly times when I was having a lot more fun in World of Warcraft despite the fact that I might not have said it was the better game.
That’s the fun thing about subjective experiences. It is possible for you to feel like a given game isn’t as good as another from top to bottom but still find the former to be more fun than the latter, and you can have a whole lot of fun in a game you might otherwise think wasn’t all that great. So which MMOs did you personally have the most fun with in 2020, regardless of their overall quality or place in the industry?
