Now that we’re done with What Are You Playing, we can look back at some of the great memories this column has produced over the years. Who can forget Reginald and the elocution of a bird, for example? I can. He wasn’t half a patch on Samuel, the whale whom we had as a mascot for a while.
Yeah, you hear that, Reginald? You suck. No one thought you were interesting or funny. That’s why we stopped doing jokes about you, Reginald, because you’re just a bad trash bird and no one likes you or cared about you. When I told the staff that we were done with you they were all happy. Go set your house on fire.
Also, there were other memories! I miss Samuel so much.

Bonus question: What’s the most irritating feature of your current home?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go’s Machamp Community Day is gonna be the big one. It’s a little frustrating since I need to catch high-level pokemon, which means I can’t focus on walking as much as usual, but oh well. Having a better gym attacker will be nice, and using the extended trade to help out a few friends will be the cherry on top.
Woof, this bonus question is way too much, but to keep it light, my room: it’s actually a poorly constructed add-on and temperature-wise, you can tell.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’ll be in Star Wars Galaxies Legends a bit this weekend crafting, and before the renewed shenanigans I was poking back into Lord of the Rings Online too – I even rebought my house from last summer and started it set it back up again. So I’ll be back in there before long I expect, if SSG can manage not to shit the bed for five minutes.
Honestly, I have a hard time complaining about this house; I love it, and what I don’t love, I’m fixing eventually, piece by piece. If pressed, I’d say just that it’s pretty small, and it’s a duplex, so we have a shared wall. I like small spaces, but one more room or two would be so great – like an office away from the noise!
Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX, YouTube, Twitch): I’ll be playing Scott Pilgrim Vs The World! Hopefully it’ll be on a stream if I find the time! Aside from that, I’m trying to grind out the cash for a TET griffon helmet in Black Desert, which costs about 2.4 billion silver. I’m at 1.3 billion right now, so the progress is slow, but steady. Maybe I can get it in about two weeks?
I’m really happy with my house to be honest! There’s nothing super annoying about it actually. I love my fancy bathtub, my three bathrooms and the awesome office! But with the baby on the way and since we just recently moved here, we have a lot of cardboard boxes in the house. And my trash service is only willing to take a few per week. Which is pretty annoying. That’s not an issue with the house though; more of a logistical issue, to be honest.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): Primarily Elite Dangerous as this week starts off a community goal, though I might peek back in to Dauntless as well as some more time in the Monster Hunter Rise demo. Gotta confirm that the Hunting Horn is as awesome as I think it is now!
The most annoying part of where I live is it’s on the third floor, which makes hauling groceries up two flights of stairs a real delight. On top of that, the stairwells are both different sizes because, presumably, this building was built by two old feuding architects that had different ideas on how stairs work.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Eh, mostly just Final Fantasy XIV and some stuff on deck for review. Nothing terrible interesting right now.
There are two big weaknesses in my house. The first is so many closets are built with sliding doors on bad runners, so they’re unreliable; the second is that the upper floor doesn’t get great air circulation for the air conditioner.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I logged back into Rocket League for the first time since the Epic Games transition. It’s so addictive. I’ll likely be playing it quite a bit.
I am kind of hating my bathroom. And back patio. And light switches. And the doors don’t latch all over the place. And the window blinds are all kinds of jacked up. Things need to get fixed.
Tyler Edwards (blog): I’ve started on Torchlight III, which is… fine. I also had a World of Warcraft craving, so I fired up my free account again. Living out my childhood dreams by playing a High Elf ranger (okay, Void Elf hunter, but whatever). Somehow I’d never quested in Loch Modan before, so I’m doing that now. Quite frankly I have a disgusting amount of games on the go right now, so there might be other stuff, but those are the two leading candidates for this weekend, at least. Oh, and I have Curse of Strahd on Saturday; my sorlock is getting eaten alive by dozens of bats, and I’m not loving her chances.
Bonus question: There’s only one thermostat for the whole building (it’s a small building), and it’s not in my apartment, so I have no control over the heating or air conditioning. The end result is I’m usually too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
Pierre, patron: I’m enjoying the PS4 exclusive game library these days. Still no MMO that teases me enough to play. It’s not an issue as my plate is already full with Horizon Zero Dawn and Persona 5. I had this fabulous RPG in my backlog for some time now, and never had enough motivation to play it, as I know it’s an extremely long playthrough (more than 100 hours just for the main part of the game). But I decided I had to know more about this RPG that is praised quite often, and I was hit with a case of what I call “the Final Fantasy VII effect”. I must explain a little more my own gaming experience here. FFVII was the first game to grab me after just the first few minutes of playing and made me come back eagerly for tens to hundreds of hours after that. I’m having the same feelings with P5. Just a few minutes in game and I want to know what happens next. I finally understand why so many people think it’s one of the best RPGs ever.
Bonus question: I really enjoy my home, so no irritating feature at all, everything is fine. And you, MOP readers, WRUP this weekend? Let us know in the comments
