Now that we’re done with What Are You Playing, we can look back at some of the great memories this column has produced over the years. Who can forget Reginald and the elocution of a bird, for example? I can. He wasn’t half a patch on Samuel, the whale whom we had as a mascot for a while.
Yeah, you hear that, Reginald? You suck. No one thought you were interesting or funny. That’s why we stopped doing jokes about you, Reginald, because you’re just a bad trash bird and no one likes you or cared about you. When I told the staff that we were done with you they were all happy. Go set your house on fire.
Also, there were other memories! I miss Samuel so much.

Bonus question: What’s the most irritating feature of your current home?
Andrew Ross (@dengarsw): Pokemon Go’s Machamp Community Day is gonna be the big one. It’s a little frustrating since I need to catch high-level pokemon, which means I can’t focus on walking as much as usual, but oh well. Having a better gym attacker will be nice, and using the extended trade to help out a few friends will be the cherry on top.
Woof, this bonus question is way too much, but to keep it light, my room: it’s actually a poorly constructed add-on and temperature-wise, you can tell.
Brianna Royce (@nbrianna, blog): I’ll be in Star Wars Galaxies Legends a bit this weekend crafting, and before the renewed shenanigans I was poking back into Lord of the Rings Online too – I even rebought my house from last summer and started it set it back up again. So I’ll be back in there before long I expect, if SSG can manage not to shit the bed for five minutes.
Honestly, I have a hard time complaining about this house; I love it, and what I don’t love, I’m fixing eventually, piece by piece. If pressed, I’d say just that it’s pretty small, and it’s a duplex, so we have a shared wall. I like small spaces, but one more room or two would be so great – like an office away from the noise!
Carlo Lacsina (@UltraMudkipEX, YouTube, Twitch): I’ll be playing Scott Pilgrim Vs The World! Hopefully it’ll be on a stream if I find the time! Aside from that, I’m trying to grind out the cash for a TET griffon helmet in Black Desert, which costs about 2.4 billion silver. I’m at 1.3 billion right now, so the progress is slow, but steady. Maybe I can get it in about two weeks?
I’m really happy with my house to be honest! There’s nothing super annoying about it actually. I love my fancy bathtub, my three bathrooms and the awesome office! But with the baby on the way and since we just recently moved here, we have a lot of cardboard boxes in the house. And my trash service is only willing to take a few per week. Which is pretty annoying. That’s not an issue with the house though; more of a logistical issue, to be honest.
Chris Neal (@wolfyseyes, blog): Primarily Elite Dangerous as this week starts off a community goal, though I might peek back in to Dauntless as well as some more time in the Monster Hunter Rise demo. Gotta confirm that the Hunting Horn is as awesome as I think it is now!
The most annoying part of where I live is it’s on the third floor, which makes hauling groceries up two flights of stairs a real delight. On top of that, the stairwells are both different sizes because, presumably, this building was built by two old feuding architects that had different ideas on how stairs work.
Eliot Lefebvre (@Eliot_Lefebvre, blog): Eh, mostly just Final Fantasy XIV and some stuff on deck for review. Nothing terrible interesting right now.
There are two big weaknesses in my house. The first is so many closets are built with sliding doors on bad runners, so they’re unreliable; the second is that the upper floor doesn’t get great air circulation for the air conditioner.
Sam Kash (@thesamkash): I logged back into Rocket League for the first time since the Epic Games transition. It’s so addictive. I’ll likely be playing it quite a bit.
I am kind of hating my bathroom. And back patio. And light switches. And the doors don’t latch all over the place. And the window blinds are all kinds of jacked up. Things need to get fixed.
Tyler Edwards (blog): I’ve started on Torchlight III, which is… fine. I also had a World of Warcraft craving, so I fired up my free account again. Living out my childhood dreams by playing a High Elf ranger (okay, Void Elf hunter, but whatever). Somehow I’d never quested in Loch Modan before, so I’m doing that now. Quite frankly I have a disgusting amount of games on the go right now, so there might be other stuff, but those are the two leading candidates for this weekend, at least. Oh, and I have Curse of Strahd on Saturday; my sorlock is getting eaten alive by dozens of bats, and I’m not loving her chances.
Bonus question: There’s only one thermostat for the whole building (it’s a small building), and it’s not in my apartment, so I have no control over the heating or air conditioning. The end result is I’m usually too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter.
Pierre, patron: I’m enjoying the PS4 exclusive game library these days. Still no MMO that teases me enough to play. It’s not an issue as my plate is already full with Horizon Zero Dawn and Persona 5. I had this fabulous RPG in my backlog for some time now, and never had enough motivation to play it, as I know it’s an extremely long playthrough (more than 100 hours just for the main part of the game). But I decided I had to know more about this RPG that is praised quite often, and I was hit with a case of what I call “the Final Fantasy VII effect”. I must explain a little more my own gaming experience here. FFVII was the first game to grab me after just the first few minutes of playing and made me come back eagerly for tens to hundreds of hours after that. I’m having the same feelings with P5. Just a few minutes in game and I want to know what happens next. I finally understand why so many people think it’s one of the best RPGs ever.
Bonus question: I really enjoy my home, so no irritating feature at all, everything is fine. And you, MOP readers, WRUP this weekend? Let us know in the comments

I went camping this weekend, so I haven’t been doing a ton of gaming, but I’ve played some LOTRO and dipped my toe into DDO. The coming week will probably be about the same (including weekend outdoor time) but I plan to play the new GW2 chapter… saga… release… thing too.
The most annoying thing about my house right now is my neighbor’s dog. Is it really necessary to bark at me every morning when I go clear off my car? Really? Every single morning?
Imagine getting into World of Warcraft now, 17 years later. Yeah I did. Got my first character to 60 this week.
Playing more Fae Tactics, having rescued/unlocked the ONLY character that I missed on the initial playthrough that you can’t get again until new game+, so now when I have the whole crew back I’ll be at full strength.
Also getting more progress toward every-job-at-level-cap in Final Fantasy XIV on my main. Have 5 combat jobs to go, all in the mid-70s (except Gunbreaker, which is 64.)
As for the BONUS QUESTION? The one thing that I’d change about this house, but obviously can’t, is that it’s 2-storeys. The stairs are killing disabled me and disabled WayTooMom (We take care of each other). But, we’re stuck with it because of severe lack of money and lack of energy for a move, so WE’LL JUST DEAL WITH IT.
Still working on Dragon Age Inquisition, lots of fun. I have a few other games to play for variety, so we’ll see.
Bonus question: I don’t really know where to go with this one…
Have a great weekend.
Playing more Cyberpunk, around 80 hours in right now, still doing side missions, still have all of Panam to complete. My group finished playing all the story in Raft this morning, which only took 2 days, so I’m pretty disappointed that is basically over. Played D&D in person last night, was wonderful to be old school gaming again. I have no MMO’s to play, it’s all the same ole, same ole, and I’ve installed all of the biggies again over the last week but nothing grabs me at all. I’m pretty sad about that. I’m going to try to get the group to buy Rust, but there are still a couple outliers.
Bonus: The worst “feature” is there is always something that needs fixed. Shower just got fixed last week, was just dripping constantly. I have to put in a new sump pump, as a big rain will flood the basement in spots. Likely screwing with the foundation as well. Not to mention the weeding, the mowing, having to remove trees. Having a house can be a pain in the ass, but at least no one is telling me to turn my music down or keeping me up with theirs.
Partner’s still playing Hades! Forever!
Also messing around with a few other gacha but nothing enthuses me like my upcoming interest in ones like Octopath Traveler (Champions of the Continent).
Princess Connect (soft launch). Goddess of Genesis. And a couple others I immediately quit.
New story
New story.. I’ll get to… one day…
Minecraft, the PvZ shooters, Deep Rock Galactic, and a few indie Steam games these days. I’ve been heavily working on sorting my Monsterpocalypse and my Riot Quest stuff which is taking some time away from actually playing games.
Most irritating feature is this is a condo and the newer neighbor on the one side apparently hangs a new picture at least once a week and hammers at weird times.
Stay safe and happy gaming!
Still playing Elder Scrolls Online, building up my champion points & levelling alts.
I managed to finish the main story in the Greymore expansion. It was ok with some high points and a few low points too not quite up there with Morrowind or Elsweyr but solid enough I guess.
Also still doing races in GT Sport and managed to score two online race wins this past week which I was super happy about. Sadly I haven’t managed to get out of rank D into C as I had hoped as things went a bit downhill after the wins.
I try very hard to race clean even if it means giving up places or not going for a pass it I don’t think I can get through without bumping the other driver. Sadly not everyone feel the same and sometimes I also react back which I know I shouldn’t but in the moment the red mist it does happen.
So I got into a tussle with an Italian driver in a race. I started a few places behind but after a few laps of the race I managed the overtake but in the very next corner he just punted me off the track.
Now that happens sometimes you miss your breaking point and can’t slow down. However given that he then waited for me and then spent the next 3 laps just pushing me all over the place I am sure his initial punt was no mistake.
I would be on the other side of the track trying to get past & he would swerve across to hit me or he would break check me on the fast straight. I am not going to lie after 3 laps of this I was seething and just any thought of trying to race clean went right out the window.
The upshot being I had a really horrible race and I also tanked by rank score so no promotion for me. I have no idea why the Italian reacted how he did and while I did my best to remain cool I lost it too. I would have lost less rank score just quitting out the race or sitting in the pits but yeah that red mist, sigh.
So now after a day or so to cool down I am back trying to regain my rank score and hoping I don’t see that driver again.
I also subbed up to Disney + again so I could watch season 2 of the Mandalorian and also WandaVision.
Mandalorian was ok but I was disappointed with the last episode especially the end and it all just felt a bit flat to me.
WandaVision is goofy (by design) in the first couple of episodes but it has me intrigued to see where they take the story. It’s certainly not your typical Marvel action and explosions but yeah I am going to be watching the rest of the season for sure.
Be safe, be kind and enjoy your gaming (wear your masks.)
The goofiness in Wanda Vision is just a surface veneer like Twinpeaks, they’re really trying to tread a thin line between Disney/Marvel and David Lynch I think, well I hope.
I plan to check it out at some point here since I already have D+ anyway. For everybody talking about how weird it is, I need to know if it will top Legion for that spot. That was a bonkers show and I loved every minute of it. Granted, it was made by Fox on FX as an “X-Men” (not really, spoilers) spin-off property, so it had different standards, but man it was awesome.
My single greatest moment of 2020 was the final scene of the Mandalorian. Yeah, kind of sad, but it’s one of those years.
I think they kind of spoiled it by having the earlier Mando face reveal. If they had kept that for the end it would have been so much more powerful & poignant.
To me it seemed more like FedEx dropping off a package and then the recipient walking away. Barely any meaningful interaction between Mando & LS. Here is your package, look after it, ok then I will be off.
Yeah, I get that. Also, kind of knew that was gonna happen after he was unmasked with Mayfeld.
Well to be fair, every minute of interaction would probably cost a whole lot of $$$.
It’s Disney they have more money down the back of their couch than I will have in my lifetime. They can afford a lot of $$$
This week: To which I was accused of having double standards when I stated support for something innocuous. But the truth of the matter I do…especially where the one pigtail likes the phat mocha frothy, while the other likes it chocolatey, for example. And I’m stuck in the middle. So… ¿Por qué no los dos? Double standard it is then! <3
Also this week: Goodness, I now now have 3 other toons in GoblinCraft at 60. Which equals now 4; that is, 1 per Covenant. O.o
Bonus Answer. It's too small. :(
Have a great week, weekend and inauguration folks! And please stay safe!
“Isn’t being ‘too small’ redundant where you are concerned, Uta?
…my legs still need breathing room though. >.<
You introduced us to Reginald, so it’s YOUR fault! YOURS! And YOURS alone! It’s not his fault he was underwhelming and insufficient. So thank YOU for cursing us with the knowledge of his existence.
Btw… who’s this whale that you’re talking about?
Help^2
Will be playing more Albion and Apex this weekend. Should jump into SWTOR at some point.
Bonus: The thing I hate about my house is that is too cluttered. There is entirely too much stuff… what? That is not a “house-problem” but a “homeowner problem?” Ohh… well… nevermind.
