The Daily Grind: Where would you live in an MMO if you could?

Oh dear.

Sometimes MMO developers and artists are so very good with creating welcoming and gorgeous zones that I think that I wouldn’t mind moving there. You know, if the taxes and school systems were good and I wasn’t in imminent danger of being eaten by a Level 3 Grue whenever I went for a hike.

There are several places that come to mind, but what inspired today’s topic is my sheer love for World of Warcraft’s Mulgore. That zone managed to capture the feeling of both the wide-open American West that I miss and summer camp. I wouldn’t want to live on Thunder Bluff, what with my fear of heights and a lack of handrails, but I wouldn’t mind tenting it up in one of the little villages.

What about you? Where would you live in an MMO?

Every morning, the Massively Overpowered writers team up with mascot Mo to ask MMORPG players pointed questions about the massively multiplayer online roleplaying genre. Grab a mug of your preferred beverage and take a stab at answering the question posed in today’s Daily Grind!

Visually, the Crystarium in FFXIV. Obviously in lore, it would probably be an awful place to live. Haha. But it looks amazing.

Queensdale in Guild Wars for sure. Beautiful place. Im still amazed at how that land was once untamed swampland and wilderness.

Kugane in FFXIV. It’s simply lovely and hands down the best place to be in Eorzea.

Alternatively – O’draxxia in BDO, granted I get to be the elf and not the human or dwarf intern :P The place is lovely and I’m tired of humanity, so overall a perfect place to be. And with what little bits of lore for that game we know – humanity is just as fucked up in there, at least Ahibs are trying to save everyone’s asses, whether everyone likes it or not.

Except a shower and a bathroom. O.O And unlike a Warframe, the characters in SWTOR *do* need to eat.

I know the Shire is the most popular answer in LotRO, but I’m a loner who couldn’t easily deal with neighbors inviting themselves over for an afternoon and a meal whenever they like.

My answer is Evendim. Beautiful lake in the wilderness with spectacular views, lovely woods, and ruins to explore. (And if I really want some of that fine hobbit food and beer, I can pop down to Oatbarton.)
